Candle burning times will vary slightly depending on the placement of your candle. Drafty areas will affect candle burning times as candles will burn slightly quicker. Candle burning times will also vary depending on the height of your wick. The longer the wick, the shorter the candle burning time. You can extend your candle burning time by burning the candles long enough to allow the wax pool to reach the edge. One hour for every inch of diameter should do it. Candles have a sort of memory. If you do not allow them to burn all the way to the edge of the container when you first burn them, they will begin to tunnel down into the wax instead of melting all the way to the edges which will shorten your candle burning times and affect the overall appearance of the candle.
Small round with lid - 165gr / 5.8 ozs - Burn time: 47 hours
Tin - 210gr / 7.4ozs - Burn Time: 60 hours
Square - 245gr / 8.6 ozs - Burn Time: 70 hours
Large round 4 wick - 445 gr / 15.6 ozs - Burn Time: 85 hours
Trim the wick down to a maximum of 1/4 of an inch after each burn. This stops the flame smoking and gives a much longer life to the candle. If the candle does give off sooty smoke, extinguish it and trim the wick before lighting it again.
Do not let candles burn in a draught or close to a heat source as this will cause the flame to smoke and burn unevenly.
Place candles on steady surfaces that will not burn & will not be damaged by slight heat (from the glass), and keep them away from flammable materials such as curtains.
Use a proper candle lighter or good quality matches and extinguisher to light and put out your candles where possible.
Each time the candle is extinguished, remove the charred pieces of wick, remains of matches and other impurities, from the melted wax round the wick.
When you light your candle, make sure it is allowed to burn out to the edge of the glass before extinguishing it. If it only burns for a short while, it will be spoiled by burning downwards and not outwards.
